This project is funded through the state of Michigan, and looks to take food waste from the dining halls, and possibly other places in Houghton, and run it through a pilot plant that will Anaerobically digest the food. This will create a methane gas (among other things) that can be used to heat buildings and water, thus reducing energy and waste disposal costs.
