Causation of human disease chemicals such as toxaphene, chlordane, and PCBs has been established, but nutritionally fish are an excellent source of protein and Omega-3 fatty acids. An opportunity exists for a student team to investigate the history of these pollutants, altering of sampling methodology, and its ultimate effect on the health of the community.


Erika Jarchow

My name is Erika Jarchow and I am a fifth-year Environmental Engineering student. I am from the Grand Rapids, and attended Grand Rapids Community College until 2016 when I transferred to Michigan Tech. I currently work on campus as a research student for Dr. Becker and Dr. Seagren on their biosolids project. Outside of school, I enjoy to hike, camp, and check out the many waterfalls that the U.P has to offer!
